What it is
Physician AI Tools catalogs, verifies and compares medical AI tools for physicians — ambient clinical scribes, radiology imaging AI, EHR-integrated phone answering, prior-authorization automation, specialty diagnostics.
Every entry is categorized, classified by medical specialty, and checked against the criteria that actually matter clinically: HIPAA posture, BAA availability, FDA clearance status, and depth of EHR integration.
Why it exists
The existing sources are each partial. The FDA 510(k) list covers imaging and diagnostics. Epic App Orchard covers Epic-integrated tools. KLAS rates enterprise platforms. None of them are organized the way a clinician actually thinks about the problem, which is by specialty and by workflow.
How you search it
- 37 workflow categories and 41 physician specialties, plus EHR integration tags — Epic, Cerner, athenahealth and others — and country of origin.
- Faceted filters across pricing tier, HIPAA / BAA / FDA status, EHR integration, sentiment rating, funding band and team size. Every filter combination is a stable, indexable URL.
- Ask AI: natural-language search constrained to answer only from on-site entries, citing each answer with on-site links, and declining clinical-recommendation queries.
- Auto-generated head-to-head comparisons for every tool pair with enough data to support one.
How entries get in
An automated discovery pipeline ingests the FDA 510(k) database, Epic App Orchard, the athenahealth Marketplace, HIMSS and RSNA exhibitor lists, and Y Combinator batches, with duplicate detection via an FDA K-number fast path and two-step human verification before anything publishes.
Vendors can request a free editorial review; approved tools carry a Clinician Reviewed badge.
One thing to be clear about
The FDA clearance field describes the regulatory status of the third-party tools listed. It says nothing about the directory. Physician AI Tools is not a regulated device and makes no clearance claim of its own.
